CUSTOMS BODIES OF AZERBAIJAN FULFILL SUCCESSFULLY THEIR TASKS
The Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Chairman of the Customs Committee for warm reception, spoke on close cooperation between Japan and Azerbaijan and underlined with satisfaction that after official visit of the President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to Japan in 1998, concrete steps in the field of further development of these relations were taken. The esteemed guest expressed confidence that due to activities of the President-elect of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, these ties will be further developing, press service of Customs Committee reports.
The Japanese Ambassador was interested in Chairman’s vision on such issues as trading policy of Azerbaijan, the role of customs organs in implementation of TRACECA program.
Speaking on positive changes in life of Azerbaijan for recent years, activities of customs organs, playing an important role in protection of economy, Chairman of the Customs Committee underlined that for organizations of proper work in this field meeting the world standards, there was created a legal basis, according to which goods and transport are imported to the territory of Azerbaijan and exported after customs control and customs registration in operative and easy order, the frontier crossing points have been equipped with modern techniques and the related infrastructure was created so that transit auto transport could easily cross the territory of Azerbaijan.
Kamaleddin Heydarov reminded that a lot of work has been done due to aid to the Japanese government to Azerbaijan, and pointed out that tasks imposed on customs organs in this field are being properly fulfilled and said that that meeting was playing a significant role in development of the existing relations.
Touching upon the tasks of customs organs in turning the TRACECA project into a working mechanism, Heydarov stressed that taking into account strategic situation of Azerbaijan on the route of historical Silk Road Europe-Caucasus-Asia, the conditions for speeding up goods turnover according to the norms used in international community have been created for improving customs control over cargo, crossing via this territory and their customs registration. Customs organs are taking confident steps for provision of transit goods to cross the territory of the country permanently and easily.
Besides, Kamaleddin Heydarov was speaking at the meeting about customs officers’ participation in international training of TRACECA program and said it was very useful for common work.
The parties shared their views on other issues of mutual interest.
