Cristiano Ronaldo seals contract to complete Manchester United return

Portuguese football superstar Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday inked a two-year deal with Manchester United to come back to the English club, according to Anadolu Agency.

"Manchester United is delighted to confirm the signing of Cristiano Ronaldo on a two-year contract with the option to extend for a further year, subject to international clearance," the club said in a statement.

Ronaldo, 36, told Manchester United that he "cannot wait to play at Old Trafford" after a long break.

"Manchester United is a club that has always had a special place in my heart, and I have been overwhelmed by all the messages I have received since the announcement on Friday. I cannot wait to play at Old Trafford in front of a full stadium and see all the fans again. I'm looking forward to joining up with the team after the international games, and I hope we have a very successful season ahead," Ronaldo said.

A five-time UEFA Champions League winner, four being with Real Madrid in 2014, 2016, 2017, and 2018, Ronaldo played for Manchester United in 2003-2009 to bag the English Premier League title with the Red Devils for three years in a row in 2007-2009.

Also a five-time Ballon d’Or winner, Ronaldo scored 118 goals in 292 games for Manchester United.

Then Ronaldo respectively played for Real Madrid and Juventus to win league titles.

He piled up 674 club goals in 895 appearances throughout his career.

Ronaldo was the EURO 2016 champion with Portugal.

The Portugal captain tallied 109 goals in 179 international caps for his nation.
