Joint Azerbaijani-American marine training ‘GOPLAT’ on guarding the oil and gas platforms is being conducted in Baku from 11 to 20 August.

The training is of anti-terror character and aims at development and improvement of practical skills of staff of the Navy in the cause of reveal and annihilation of the ‘terrorist groups that seized the floating drilling rigs, oil and gas platforms, terminals and other objects of offshore oil industry’.

In the practical studies, on the American side are participating 18, while on the Azerbaijani side – 45 militaries, 2 MI-8 helicopters and 2 patrol vessels.

The studies also envision landing operations at the conditional object, as well as preparation for shooting at the training ground.
