DO NOT TELL LIES, SIRS

There is information of Rahim Kazimli “Russian Diaspora supports I. Gambar” in the September 29, 2003 issue of Yeni Musasvat newspaper. It reads that a conference of representatives of the Azerbaijani Diaspora under the slogan “Elections-2003, position of Diaspora” was held on September 27 in Moscow at the initiative of the organization “Rasulzadeh’s Majlis (assembly)”.

The readers are told that besides the members of the organizations, representatives of the society Ojag, Federative national cultural autonomy, Center of International congress of Azerbaijanis, youth organization Khazri, youth organization of All Russian Azerbaijani Congress and other were taking part in the conference.

The article read that the participants told on importance of the forthcoming Presidential elections in Azerbaijan and that solution of many problems depends on the authorities and so on.

This information does not cause any doubts, of course. The other thing is quite surprising: in publication, they write as if that conference took a decision to give their votes to the leader of the Musavat party Isa Gambar.

AzerTaj decided to check whether it is true and had a few conversations. It was cleared up that there is such organization as “Rasulzadeh’s Majlis”. This is a discussion club; where representatives of Azerbaijani Diaspora, mainly intelligentsia gather and discuss the current events in Azerbaijan, speak on politics, culture of our people, etc. Of course, this club does not have any responsibility to take any political decisions. Related to Ojag society, its member, a well-known scientists professor Tofiq Melikov stated categorically that his society did not take part in the conference mentioned in the newspaper and accordingly had no chance to vote for someone.

In All- Russian Azerbaijani Congress they reported that they have read this publication with indignation because there is not such youth organization and everything written by Kazimli is nothing but fiction.

The Khazri organization is not registered officially anywhere and the information about this organization is another invention.

In conclusion, about the most important thing - having interrogated a few participants of the so-called conference, it was cleared up that they did not discuss any concrete individuals, and no one called to vote for anyone. These are the so-called “methods” of propaganda of Yeni Musavat, trying to show the desired for reality.
