DRUG AND ILLEGAL NARCOTIC TRAFFICKING CONTROL

According to the information of the State drug and narcotic trafficking control commission, during eight months of 2003, 1518 facts of crimed connected with narcotics have been registered in Azerbaijan, 428 facts are related to realization of narcotics.

Some 117 kg 879 gr. of narcotics, psychotropic substances, precursor, 1 kg 402 gr. of heroine, 68 kg 835 gr. of opium, 817 gr. of hashish, 46 kg 825 gr. of marihuana. 2 040 04 tablets, 2959 ampoules of precursor have been discovered for this period.

Law enforcement organs pay a special attention to combat against illegal circulation of narcotic substances and discovering the sources of their supply and it gave positive results.

During eight months of the year, the results of this works are as follows: 31 foreign citizens, 17 Iranians, 10 Russians, 2 Georgians and 1 Afghan, were attracted to criminal responsibility. 34 kg 361 gr. of narcotic substances were confiscated.
