Death toll from West Nile virus in Greece rises to 41

The list of victims who have succumbed to the West Nile Virus in Greece continues to grow, according to the international Greek news network Greek Reporter.
An announcement by the Hellenic Center for Disease Control & Prevention said the number of deaths that have resulted from the outbreak of the West Nile Virus (WNV) in Greece has reached 41.
Six more people died this week after being hospitalized with severe symptoms of encephalitis and meningitis.
The total number of people that have been affected by the virus is 306. The majority of the fatalities are among people aged 70 years old or older.
The areas in Greece most affected by the outbreak are Attica and Central Macedonia.
