Kiev, May 22, AZERTAC

As a friendly country, Ukraine is very pleased with Azerbaijan's achievements over the past 100 years, said Andriy Lopushansky, Deputy of Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada in his interview with AZERTAC on marking 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Andriy Lopushansky stressed that the Azerbaijani people demonstrated courage and freedom at the beginning of the century, while on the end of the century, their followers also show their political will.

Restoring its independence, Azerbaijan demonstrated its commitment to ancient statehood traditions, and became political and spiritual successor of the People's Republic. The far-sighted policy of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of modern Azerbaijan, and the pragmatic policy of its worthy successor, President Ilham Aliyev, has earned respect and reputation among the countries of the world, Andriy Lopushansky added.

Ukrainian deputy emphasized that relations between the two countries are based on sincerity, friendship and strategic cooperation.
