Dushanbe hosts 5th Summit of Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia

Azerbaijani Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov attends the Summit

Dushanbe, June 15, AZERTAC

The Tajik capital of Dushanbe has hosted the 5th Summit of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Novruz Mammadov attended the Summit.

Tajik President Emomali Rahmon greeted the heads of state and government participating in the event.

The heads of state and government then posed together for official photos.

Opening the Summit, Tajik President Emomali Rahmon described terrorism and extremism as major threats to security in the region. He said the threats require regional countries to boost their cooperation. The Tajik President also noted the significance of expanding the transport and infrastructure projects in order to ensure common interests in the region.

Chinese President Xi Jinping urged Asian countries and their partners to uphold the vision of common, comprehensive, cooperative and sustainable security, and explore a regional security structure with Asian features to realize collective security for Asia.

Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov made a speech at the event.


As part of the visit Prime Minister Novruz Mammadov had a meeting with Tajik President Emomali Rahmon. The level of bilateral relations between the two countries was hailed at the meeting, and the sides exchanged views on prospects for expansion of cooperation in a variety of areas.
