EC APPROVES PROPOSALS OF GERMANY ON INTRODUCTION OF NEW TYPE OF VISA

European Commission, conducting in Brussels its first after summer holidays session, discussed and approved the proposals of federal government of Germany on realization by the citizens of the European Union countries, as well as other countries of world, free move along Europe by means of a standard visa of a single format.

European Commission especially underlined that the plastic visas in which with secret ciphers was encoded along the photos of the visitors also biometric signs, peculiar to the fingerprints, will become a valid mean in establishing international terrorists, criminals, dealing in weapons and men, and suggested to introduce such visas in space of European Commission not later than 2005.

European Commission expressed confidence that its proposals on this item will be approved at the next meeting of the ministers of justice and foreign affairs of EC, to be held on 2 October in Luxembourg.
