ESTONIA TO MAKE FURTHER EFFORTS FOR AZERBAIJAN’S INTEGRATION INTO EUROPEAN STRUCTURES
Chairman of the Commission Mr. Seyidov said that in the passed years Azerbaijan had been admitted to a number of international organizations and the parliamentarians of Azerbaijan closely cooperate with the Estonian MPs, and that parliamentarians of both countries hold similar positions in many questions.
Mr. Samad Seyidov recalled that the most painful problem of Azerbaijan is that the neighboring Armenia has occupied 20 percent of lands of the Country as a result of which one million of people were driven from their homelands and became refugees and IDPs. “Azerbaijan intends to admit to the Atlantic Alliance”, Seyidov underlined. “But separatism backed from outside impedes it”.
Expressing for warm reception, Mr. Marco Mihkelson highly assessed the relations between Estonia and Azerbaijan, mutual visits of parliamentarians of both country. Estonia as a member of the European Union and NATO will make every possible effort to promote integration of Azerbaijan into European structures, he stressed. According to him, the mentioned problem should be settled in the frame of international legal principles.
