EUROPEAN COMMISSION HAS NOT MADE STATEMENT ON PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS IN AZERBAIJAN
Made a statement related to the presidential elections in Azerbaijan.
To this end, Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Abid Sharifov said: “Adviser to the EC Chairman Mr. Sanino rejected these importation. The EC representative stated that Mr. Roman Prodi has not made any statement in regard with elections, but a statement was made only on behalf of the European Commission’s leadership.
In its statement, the European Commission confirmed notable move in the current elections in Azerbaijan in comparison with the pervious elections, good organizing of voting at much more election stations, assessed the elections as a significant step towards achievement of the level of international standards. European Commission expressed best wishes to the President-elect Ilham Aliyev, and hope that he would rule on the ground of true democratic values and principles.
The Statement was joined by the EC member-countries - Czech, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, the Cyprus, Malta, as well as Bulgaria and Romania that signed the agreement on associative membership, the countries entering the European free trade zone (Island, Liechtenstein and Norway).
