EUROPE'S FIRST 7-STAR HOTEL OPENED IN MILAN
Owned by the Italian Town House group that already runs several small hotels in Milan and Turin, it will be the world's second hotel in the seven-star category, along with Dubai's sail-shaped Burj Al Arab tower. Despite its stuttering economy, Italy remains one of the top players in the global luxury market, with projects ranging from an exclusive Milanese suburb designed by architect Norman Foster to private jet interiors by fashion group Versace.
A spokeswoman for Town House said several luxury brands were involved in the hotel project, but declined to name them. She also declined to say how much the suites would cost per night. In contrast to Burj Al Arab, Town House will be small and urban, sitting on top of a Prada shop in the Galleria.
