Erdogan won polls with 52.59 pct votes: Election board

Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the June 24 presidential election with 52.59 percent votes, according to the official results announced by Turkey`s Supreme Election Council, Anadolu Agency reports.

Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, Sadi Guven, head of the Supreme Election Council, said Erdogan got 26,330,823 votes across Turkey.

The June 24 vote marks Turkey's transition to an executive presidential system of government, doing away with the prime minister's post, among other changes.
