Event marking Republic Day of Azerbaijan held in Canada
Baku, May 13 (AZERTAC). An event marking 28 May, the Republic Day of Azerbaijan has been held in London, South-Western Ontario, Canada.
The event was organized by the Azerbaijani-Turk Canada Association and supported by the Azerbaijani Embassy in Canada.
The event brought together Minister of State for Science and Technology of London (West Ontario) Ed Holder, as well as members of the Canadian Parliament and Parliament of Ontario and representatives of London City Council.
President of the Azeri-Turk Canadian Association Kamala Shiriyeva provided an insight into the activities of her organization. She stressed the importance of the event.
Head of Youth Department at the Association Sabina Azizli made a presentation on the history of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.
Staff member of the Embassy highlighted the events marking the 91st anniversary of national leader Heydar Aliyev, and emphasized the historical significance of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic. Azerbaijan`s development after regaining its independence, the country`s achievements over the last 10 years, its contribution to European energy security, the country`s role in fighting against terrorism, as well as prospects for Azerbaijani-Canadian relations.
The event featured a concert of Azerbaijani music and dance.
