    FIFA President Gianni Infantino announces candidacy for third term

    Gianni Infantino confirmed his candidacy Thursday in the next FIFA presidential election in 2023, Anadolu Agency reports.

    "I want to tell you that I will run for re-election next year," the Swiss-Italian said at the 72nd FIFA Congress in Qatar’s capital, Doha.

    Infantino, 52, who will run for his third term, has been chairman of football’s governing body since February 2016.
