FOREIGN MINISTER OF AZERBAIJAN PRESIDED AT SESSION OF COUNCIL OF EUROPEAN UNION–AZERBAIJAN COOPERATION IN BRUSSELS
As was informed to AzerTAj from the press center of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in the evening of the same day E. Mammadyarov attended at the business supper arranged by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands Bernard Bot, presiding in the European Union, in honor of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Armenia. On this action, there was a secretary general of the European Union J. Solana and a member of the European Commission K. Patten. The basic topic of discussions during the supper has been connected to situation and conflicts in region, ways of their settlement.
The 6th session of the Council of European Union – Azerbaijan cooperation commenced on September 14. At the session under presidency of minister E. Mammadyarov, discussed was the question concerning cooperation between the European Union and Azerbaijan for last year.
At the session, presented was information on political, economic and social reforms in Azerbaijan, also was dwelt on last innovations in transport and power sector. Have been expressed approval in connection with inclusion of Azerbaijan in the “European neighborhood policy” of the European Union, and also hope for the further expansion of bilateral relations in these frameworks. The session rounded its work. Representatives of the ministries of foreign affairs and economic development, State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic and representation of Azerbaijan at the European Union took part at the session.
On September 14, minister E. Mammadyarov has arrived from Brussels in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana, for participation in the summit of heads of states of CIS countries.
