FOREIGN MINISTRY OF GREECE ALLOTTED USD50 000 TO AZERBAIJAN
Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Chairman of State Commission on international humanitarian aid Ali Hasanov met with Ambassador of Greece in Azerbaijan Mr. Merkurios Karafotias on July 15.As AzerTAj was informed from the press service of the Cabinet of Ministers, Ambassador Merkurios Karafotias reminded of the meeting between the Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece Andreas Loverdos, where the plight of refugees and IDPs – victims of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, and further humanitarian aid to them, were discussed. During this meeting, proposals were made on construction of new building for regional central hospital for refugees and IDPs in Beylagan region of Azerbaijan and supply of modern equipment for it. Ambassador Merkurios Karafotias informed Ali Hasanov that with the purpose to implement this project, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Greece allotted USD50 000 to Azerbaijan. Deputy Prime Minister Ali Hasanov, noting that the problem of one million refugees and IDPs is in the focus of President of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev, expressed his gratitude to the Greek Government for aid to the implementation of medical program for IDPs and informed that this financial aid will be transferred to the account of IDPs Social Development Fund in the International Bank.
