FOURTH MEETING OF AZERBAIJAN-SWITZERLAND INTERGOVERMENTAL COMMISSION FOR TRADE AND ECONOMY HELD

Baku, January 22 (AZERTAC). The fourth meeting of Azerbaijan-Switzerland Intergovernmental Commission for Trade and Economy held in the Swiss capital, Berne.

Azerbaijan is represented by Co-chair of the Commission, Minister of Economic Development Shahin Mustafayev. Representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Finance, Justice, Taxes, Health, Culture and Tourism, the Central Bank, “Azersu” and “Melioration and Water Industry” Stock Companies also participate in the meeting.

The Swiss delegation is represented by Mrs. Monica Ruhul Burzi, member of the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). Current state of the economic relations between Azerbaijan and Switzerland and prospects of further development in various areas were in the focus of meeting.

Visits of Swiss President Pascal Couchepin to Azerbaijan on May 2008 and Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev to this country on October 2009 played an important role in development of economic and political relations between the two countries, said Mustafayev.

Mrs. Burzi praised dynamic development of the two countries` economic relations.

The meeting ended with signing protocol on cooperation in the fields of trade and economy.

During the visit, Mr. Shahin Mustafayev also met with Jean-Daniel Gerber, SECO Director and Director of the Foreign Economic Affairs Directorate to discuss issues of cooperation.
