Paris and Tripoli take important steps for recent times to normalize relations. To this end, a meeting between President of France Jacques Chirac and Prime Minister of Libya Shukri Ghanem who was making a three-day visit to France was conducted at the Elysee Palace.

President Chirac expressed satisfaction with the decision of Muammar Kadaffi to give up all kinds of mass destruction weapons and payment of compensations to relatives of the French citizens died at the aircraft shot down by the Libya.

In the course of the meeting, Prime Minister invited Mr. Jacques Chirac to Libya.

As to the visit of Muammar Kadaffi to France, it may be realized after the visit of Chirac.

Prime Minister of Libya also met with his French counterpart Jean Pierre Raffarin. The sides discussed the issues of scientific, technical and cultural cooperation and education of Libyan students in France.
