Faun and Majestic Nymph Contemporary Dance Performance by Emmanuelle Huynh
Baku, May 6, AZERTAC
YARAT Contemporary Art Centre and the French Institute in Azerbaijan have announced Faun and Majestic Nymph contemporary dance performance by Emmanuelle Huynh, popular French dancer and choreographer.
The performance was inspired by one-act ballet The Afternoon of a Faun by choreographer Vaslav Nijinsky, first performed in the Théâtre du Châtelet in Paris on 29th May 1912. The costumes and sets were designed by the painter Léon Bakst and the phototypes (specific printing mechanism) were produced by Adolf Mayer.
The organizing company said: “This performance has raised special interest due to the fact that it was created along traditional lines, while at the same time becoming a precursor of the whole contemporary dance movement. This is exactly what makes it universally interesting.”
Emmanuelle Huynh today holds a dance workshop with the participation of young dancers at the Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Art.
