‘Fight against domestic violence is a component part of state policy’
Baku, February 18 (AZERTAC). The State Committee for Family, Woman and Children Problems together with other governmental bodies is carrying out large-scale activity to fight against domestic violence, and this is a component part of state policy, HIjran Huseynova, chairperson of the Commettee, told journalists.
Talking about the project “Social and economic empowerment and enlightenment of women who were victims of domestic violence in Azerbaijan”, Huseynova highlighted her Committee`s activity in this direction.
She said violence against women and children does not concern only Azerbaijan, “it happens in all countries”.
She added that today besides verbal abuse, psychological violence also often happens in families.
According to her, the State Committee for Family, Woman and Children Problems has great experience in learning and fighting violence.
The chairperson praised the new project, saying in its implementation the Committee is cooperating with government bodies, Azerbaijan Confederation of Lawmakers, international organizations, including the European Commission, the International Labour Organization (ILO) of the United Nations and the International Organization for Migration.
