His Excellency Mr Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan
Dear Mr President.
On behalf of the Turkic Council and on my own behalf, I cordially congratulate you and the people of Azerbaijan on the national holiday of Azerbaijan – the Republic Day and convey my heartfelt wishes to you.
The declaration of independence by the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic on 28 May 1918 and the establishment of the first democratic republic in the Turkic and Islamic world, while becoming a turning point in the history of the Azerbaijani people, also served as an example for other peoples.
Developing on a daily basis thanks to your leadership and wise policies since the restoration of independence, the Republic of Azerbaijan has become the most developed country in the region, strengthening its authority among countries of the world.
We would also like to note with satisfaction your continued support for the Turkic Council and emphasize that the successful results of the Seventh Summit held in Baku under your chairmanship laid the foundation for the Turkic Council’s entry into a qualitatively new stage and transformation of our organization into an even more attractive platform in the regional plane.
As an illustrative example, it is possible to indicate the Turkic Council has become the first international organization in the world which, also on your initiative and under your chairmanship, held the first emergency summit on the COVID-19 pandemic in the form of a video conference. The demonstration of solidarity and unity among Turkic-speaking states in such a difficult time for mankind further enhanced our credibility in the international arena.
Your Excellency, I would like to emphasize that as a result of your visionary foreign policy, the world community has taken as an example the experience and solidarity of the Turkic Council in the fight against COVID-19 infection.
On the occasion of this historic date, I want to wish Your Excellency continued success in your high state activity, and the people of Azerbaijan prosperity, well-being and happiness.
With deep respect and reverence,
Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-Speaking States
