GRANT PROJECTS SIGNED BETWEEN JAPAN AND AZERBAIJAN
Opening the ceremony attended by the delegation of the Japanese Parliament, led by deputy chairman of the Advisors Council Shoji Motooka and deputy Milli Majlis chairman Ziyafet Askarov, Education Minister Misir Mardanov greeted the guests and said following President Heydar Aliyev’s visit to the friendly country in 1998, the Azerbaijan-Japan ties had been increasingly developed. It was the visit that fostered the Government of Japan to pay a special attention to many spheres of socio-economic life in Azerbaijan including that of education
In the framework of the “Plant roots” alone, according to the Minister, 32 projects are being implemented as of construction and repairs of schools. Today, three more agreements are expected to be signed.
Ambassador of Japan to Azerbaijan Toshiyuki Fujivara noted the visit of the Japanese delegation would open possibilities for development of economic cooperation between the countries. “In all, education is a priority direction of our aid programs”, he said.
Then, Toshiyuiki Fujivara signed the project “School Equipment Upgrade” with chairman of the Organization of Democratic Youth and Students of Azerbaijan Asif Askarov, project “Improvement of water-supply in Goychay town” – with Isa Isayev, chief of Drainage System of Goychay, project “Construction of the School in “Bakikhanov” settlement” – with Rasim Muradov, director of the secondary school.
Shoji Motooka signed the agreements as a witness as well. The total cost of the project exceeds USD 200 thousand.
