GREAT SILK ROAD LIVENS UP

On September 16, a column of 10 trailers, 12 minibus and 3 cars, loaded with 220 thousand tons of European Union’s humanitarian aid for Afghanistan, arrived from Georgian port Poti in Baku. Tbilisi solemnly welcomed the column. A concert dedicated to this event took place in Tbilisi.

The purpose of this Deimler-Krysler-supported large-scale action is not only delivery of humanitarian aid for Afghanistan but also demonstration of effectiveness and safety of the TRASECA corridor. On September 4, column of motorcars passing by Georgia, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan, will arrive in Kabul on October 1. The column is accompanied by 30 journalists from European companies. On September 17, the column entered into territory of Azerbaijan. Thus, the idea of restoration of the Great Silk Way proposed 10 years ago is now being realized.
