It was proudly stated by Elbrus Mammadov /66kg/, a gold winner of World Greco-Roman Wrestling Championship, and Niyamaddin Pashayev /67kg/, bronze winner of World Taekwando Championship. Both winners - soldiers of the Azerbaijan Army, who took part in the competition among servicemen held in Turkey and Croatia.
At the reception, the executive authorities head of Gubadli region Malik Isagov and Milli Majlis (Parliament) member Tofig Huseynli congratulated the sportsmen on their deserved victory. It was noted that creation of the good material and technical basis, construction of Olympic complexes in the country give an opportunity to hold prestigious international competitions.
In his turn, Elbrus Mammadov told on his first steps made in his native land under the leadership of Azerbaijan national hero Aliyar Aliyev. In 1999, Elbrus became a European champion, in 2001 - gold winner of World Greco-Roman Championship. Niyamaddin Pashayev also stressed that two years ago he became World winner and was awarded with ‘Taraggy’ /Progress/ medal on the occasion of NOC’s 10th anniversary.
Memorable souvenirs and gratuity were handed over the winners.
