General Director of “AZEL Systems”: Several projects have been successfully implemented in Azerbaijan

A “Caspian Digitalization Summit” on innovative "Digital Twin" technology was held at “Hilton” hotel in Baku on April 12. The Summit was hosted jointly by “AZEL Systems” company - Azerbaijan's leading system integrator, and “Hexagon” (USA-Sweden Holding) - a global leader in engineering software and digital twin technologies to design, construct and operate plants, ships and offshore facilities.

Opening the event General Director of “AZEL Systems” company Igor Yakovenko informed the participants that the company was established in 2013 and since then has become one of the leading systems integrators in the area of digitalization and implementation of innovative solutions in the Caucasus region. He also noted that for the past 10 years “AZEL Systems” has been the only partner of "Hexagon" in Azerbaijan and that together companies have successfully completed several projects in Azerbaijan. Yakovenko also briefly focused on the benefits of the Digital Twin technology including cost optimization; risk reduction and improved data quality. In the end of his speech he noted about completion of the successful implementation of Hexagon Engineering Management technologies in SOCAR, which is the basis for Future Digital Twin technologies in Azerbaijan.

Addressing the event, Regional Manager of “Hexagon” Shamil Fayzrakhmanov explained the Hexagon view on digital twins and how they are the key to digital transformation initiatives and provide support for projects and for operations of industry facilities. Fayzrakhmanov noted that Azerbaijan also has a very good base for beginning the process of digital twin technologies implementation. In particular, the successful use of “Hexagon” technology by a number of Azerbaijani companies was discussed.

The representatives from different departments of "Hexagon'' technical specialists also spoke during the conference:

- Kyle Pearce - Discussed the benefits of the Digital Transformation for Process Industry; PAS solution as an Alarm Management System;

- Kseniya Chapkovskaya – Made a speech on Hexagon EcoSys for CAPEX investment planning, controlling and budgeting. .

- Linas Gabrielaitis – Spoke about Hexagon software for industrial engineering and BIM.

Their presentations were well received and representatives from organizations such as the, SOCAR, Committee on City Building and Architecture, Ministry of Emergency Situations, “PMD”, “Nobel Energy” and others expressed hope that similar events can be held every year.

At the end of the conference a panel discussion was held with the participation of Igor Yakovenko, Shamil Fayzrakhmanov, Kyle Pearce and other guests. They discussed the wide range of questions and agreed that implementation of innovative solutions such as "Digital Twins" is an important goal for Azerbaijan and that this process should be done only with the use of licensed software.
