Tbilisi, August 22, AZERTAC

Georgian Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili has hailed the assistance of neighboring countries, including Azerbaijan in extinguishing the ongoing forest fires in the country. "The first important help came from Azerbaijan," PM Kvirikashvili said.

"The Azerbaijani helicopter is taking part in extinguishing forest fires in Georgia. Two helicopters of Turkey are already in Batumi and they will soon join the fire tackling operation," he said.

The forest fires in Georgia broke out on 20 August.

Under the order of the Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, the Ministry of Emergency Situations sent a helicopter to Georgia to help extinguish forest fires in Borjomi-Kharagauli Reserve.
