German politician regards Armenia's illegal settlement policy as a violation of international humanitarian law

Berlin, September 14, AZERTAC

“Artificial change of demography in occupied territories, regardless the region, is contrary to international humanitarian law,” Azerbaijan's Honorary Consul to Stuttgart Otto Hauser said in his interview with AZERTAC.

“Recent news about the resettlement of Armenian families from Lebanon to the ancient Azerbaijani town of Shusha, currently under the Armenian occupation in the region of Nagorno-Karabakh, is a matter of serious concern due to the clear violation of the 1949 Geneva Conventions. International community, including the European Union, fully supports the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Azerbaijan. Forcible alteration of demography in the occupied Azerbaijani territories fails to serve the principal purpose of the ongoing peace process, which is aimed to restore international law in this part of the world. Armenia must end its occupation, halt her resettlement policy, the refugees must return to their homes,” Hauser said.
