Germany beat Slovakia in volleyball friendly ahead of Baku

Baku, June 9, AZERTAC

Germany beat Slovakia 3-0 (25-18, 25-22, 25-16) in a European Games warm-up friendly in Munster, the home side's first match since winning bronze at the 2014 World Championships. The teams had agreed in advance to play a fourth set, which Germany won 37-35, as part of their preparations for Baku 2015.

"I am satisfied," said German coach Vital Heynan. "After all, we won the first match 3-0. Of course not everything went perfectly, but it's too early for everything to be top-notch," Heynan will use the exercise to draw up his final 14-man squad for Baku.

The match-up was also a preview of things to come at Baku 2015, where the two teams from Pool B will face off on 16 June. The other four teams in the strong pool are Russia, Italy, Bulgaria and Belgium.
