Governor of Saint Petersburg visits ancient Icherisheher

Governor of Saint Petersburg, the Russian Federation, Georgy Poltavchenko has visited Icharisheher, one of the world`s cultural heritage sites, in Baku.
He viewed the Maiden Tower, which was built in the 7th-6th centuries BC, and restored in the 12th century.
The Governor was informed of the very ancient history of Icharisheher, the valuable cultural heritage of the Azerbaijani nation. He viewed stone exhibits at Syrataghly Religious and Architectural Complex discovered in 1964 during archaeological excavations to the north of Maiden Tower.
The Governor was informed on the Icharisheher State Historical and Architectural Reserve, which is classified as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
Georgy Poltavchenko has also visited the Palace of Shirvanshahs built in early 15th century and considered one of the landmark architectural monuments of Azerbaijan.
The Governor signed the Icherisheher`s guest book, and he was presented with a keepsake.
