Group stage draw for 2022 World Cup to be held on Friday

The draw for the 2022 World Cup group stage will take place Friday in Qatar’s capital, Doha, according to Anadolu Agency.

Out of 32 nations that will play, 29 have qualified for the tournament. Two winners of the inter-confederation playoffs and one from the European Qualifiers playoff will be decided later.

To fill the last two places from the inter-confederation playoffs, Peru will face the United Arab Emirates or Australia and New Zealand will meet Costa Rica.

For the last spot from Europe, Wales will take on the winners between Scotland and Ukraine in the playoff qualifier, which was delayed because of Russia’s war on Ukraine.

The World Cup will be held from Nov. 21 to Dec. 18 with 32 teams in eight groups.
