Baku, February 20, AZERTAC
“The Southern Gas Corridor is a historical project,” said European Commissioner for Budget and Human Resources Günther Oettinger as he addressed the Fifth Ministerial Meeting of the Southern Gas Corridor Advisory Council in Baku.
The European Commissioner said: “I strongly believe that the Advisory Council has been crucial in pushing this project forward. It has brought together all the actors to ensure that the challenges are addressed together. This access today is also due to professionalism of the companies involved. As well as the financial institutions, EIB, EBRD and others that have contributed financially to its construction.”
“We will soon be able to say 3500 km of pipelines constructed in record time across various countries below initial cost estimates. There are not many infrastructure projects that can make the same claim. It’s a historical project,” he added.
