HEADS OF EUROPEAN CUSTOMS INVESTIGATION SERVICES MEET

The 12th sitting of the European customs investigation services was held in Rome, Italy. Azerbaijan was represented Afat Mikayilov, staff member of the State Customs Committee of Azerbaijan.

The event, attended by over 32 world countries, including World Customs Committee, Europol, Interpol, Olaf, Regional Data-Coordination Department for CIS countries, European Commission and other international organizations, discussed issues of sequences of the prevented measures on illegal circulation of drugs and cigarette smuggling. At the same time, the experience of the Regional Data-Coordination Department, use of the net for control on customs laws, bilateral and multilateral cooperation.

Participants of the sitting gave a high assessment to the activity of the Azerbaijan Customs Committee. The next sitting is due in September-October 2004 in Norway.
