HISTORICAL REGIONAL MUSEUM MOVED TO NEW BUILDING
Historical regional museum in Babak region of Azerbaijan moved to a new building. At the ceremony on the occasion of putting into commission a new building, Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Autonomous Republic of Nakhchivan Vasif Talibov and ceremony participants got acquainted with exposition of the museum, including materials reflecting visits of President Heydar Aliyev to Babak region in different years.
There are more than 3500 exhibits in the museum reflecting ancient history of the region along with the modern period. Babak region is one of the most ancient places of Azerbaijan and Nakhchivan, rich with historical monuments. Local monuments such as Kultapa I, Kultapa II, Gizilburun, Chalkhangala, VayKhir, Chovurgala are important not only for the study of Azerbaijani history but also for the Southern Caucasus and Near East.
Stone implements of bronze period, domestic articles, found during the excavations in Kultapa II, as well as national clothes, carpets and copper goods, silver decorations and other exhibits attract attention of the visitors.
