Hamsik robbed at gunpoint
Baku, February 19 (AZERTAC). Napoli captain Marek Hamsik was robbed at gunpoint outside the club's stadium following Sunday's Serie A match against Sampdoria.
The 25-year-old midfielder was on his way to Naples airport after Sunday's 0-0 draw when his exit was blocked by three masked individuals, according to various media outlets in Italy.
They then allegedly proceeded to smash a window while pointing a gun at the player and demanded he hand over his Rolex watch. Hamsik obliged and called the local police after they left.
"It wasn't too serious but it's the third time something like this has happened to me," Hamsik told Sky Italia on Monday.
In 2009, Hamsik's wife was also robbed, while several other players have been targeted in the city in recent years.
Striker Edinson Cavani and midfielder Valon Behrami have both been robbed in the past, as has former forward Ezequiel Lavezzi, who moved to Paris Saint-Germain last summer.
