Hikmat Hajiyev: We consider the US House of Representatives resolution on so-called "Armenian genocide" as biased and unfair
Baku, October 30, AZERTAC
"We condemn the resolution 296 passed by the U.S. House of Representatives regarding the so-called "Armenian genocide" and consider it as biased and unfair," head of the Department of Foreign Policy Affairs of the Azerbaijani Presidential Administration Hikmat Hajiyev has told AZERTAC.
“This resolution does not have any political, legal or historical grounds, and has been adopted as a result of the efforts of the pro-Armenian lobby groups. The events that happened at that time should be investigated by historians, not politicians,” the Presidential Administration official said.
“Armenia and the Armenian lobby made the so-called Armenian genocide an object of political speculation. They are trying to conceal the crimes committed by Armenians in the South Caucasus and other regions. It is for that reason that Armenia does not accept Turkey's proposal to examine the events of that period by the Joint Historical Commission. Attempts to falsify and “rewrite history” and use it for purposes of exerting political pressure are inadmissible,” Hikmat Hajiyev added.
