Hikmet Hajiyev: "European Free Alliance contradicts its own principles”

Baku, April 20, AZERTAC

The fictitious regime established by Armenia in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan in order to disguise the occupation and aggression against Azerbaijan and unreasonably exploits "the principle of the right to self-determination," said spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan Hikmet Hajiyev, commenting on Armenian medias’ news on fictitious regime’s “party” that become a member of the European Free Alliance in Belgium.

According to him, the principle of self-determination cannot be expressed through occupation, aggression and ethnic cleansing: "As a result of the Armenian occupation, more than 1 million Azerbaijanis have been ethnically cleansed, deprived of fundamental rights and freedoms. One of the biggest humanitarian disasters since World War II was committed.”

Hikmet Hajiyev noted that the European Free Alliance, expressing loyalty to protect the rights and freedoms, but entering into a relationship with the regime, created as a result of aggression, occupation and bloody ethnic cleansing, contradicts to principles, claimed by them.

Hikmet Hajiyev noted that such an attitude is disrespect to one million Azerbaijani internally displaced persons and refugees.

"The occupied territories are fertile for arms, drugs, human organs’ trafficking and training of terrorists. European Free Alliance, demonstrating commitment to its values, must renounce any ties with the separatist regime of Nagorno-Karabakh," stressed Hikmet Hajiyev.
