IMF EXPERTS SATISFIED WITH TAX MINISTRY’S ACTIVITIES
According to the Ministry’s PR department, the parties discussed the situation of the tax incomes in Azerbaijan for 8 months of 2003, draft state budget for 2004, and series of measures taken within the framework of the cooperation program between IMF and Azerbaijan.
Minister Fazil Mammadov informed on the achievement of rhythm of tax incomes and expressed confidence in complete fulfillment of tax forecasts. As to the draft budget for 2004, F. Mammadov noted that a commission, formed to draft the budget in accordance with the IMF recommendations, had been working fruitfully and the document would be soon submitted to the Government.
Then, D.U. Lynn and F. Mammadov exchanged views on tax forecasts for the next year.
Discussions mainly revolved around the issues on fiscal policy for the next year, amendments to the tax legislation.
IMF paid a special attention to appraisal of Taxes Ministry’s activities and expressed satisfaction with the results its activity.
