Acting under the auspices of UNESCO, the International Journalist expedition from 29 September to 2 October conducted in Azerbaijan a ‘round table’ on the topic: “Caspian: cooperation for future”.

Over hundred representatives from 20 countries attending the workshop visited the Alley of Martyrs. They laid wreath on the tombs of the heroes who fell for independence and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.

The guests went to Nabran, a settlement in the northward of Azerbaijan. Head of the socio-political division of President Administration Rustam Mammadov updated the guests on the ongoing reforms in the Country.

On 30 September, the seminar was opened. It was noted that the International journalist expedition also has made a lot in this direction. The seminar “Caspian: cooperation for future” has a great importance for Azerbaijan, Rustam Mammadov said. Azerbaijan is a county that underwent an aggression, and the problems we encounter, are not understood by many. Therefore, journalists representing CIS, Canada, Sweden, the Arab countries, countries of Central Asia and others will be eyewitnesses of all, play significant role in bringing to the public notice the truth on Azerbaijan.

Head of the delegation, chairman of the Union of Journalists of Russia Vsevolod Bogdanov said that conduction of the first arrangement on the problems of Caspian in Azerbaijan is connected with the fact that the Republic is on the eve of a serious political process, and with its position in the region.

The key goal of conduction of the ‘round-table’ is to approach from the journalist position to the Caspian problems, search ways their solution and attract attention of large community to this issue.

Similar arrangement is due in Russia, Kazakhstan and other Caspian littoral countries.

Speaking were at the seminar the director of the Institute of Geography, Budag Budagov, academician Ramiz Mammadov, doctor of historical sciences Namig Akhundov and others, as well as the foreign guests made certain statement on natural reserves and ecological problems of the Caspian, on the damage caused environment as a result of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno Karabakh conflict, on jeopardy imposed by radio-active substances of Armenia to the Caspian waters, on the policy of globalization and regional interests, joint combat against terrorism, etc. In the course of the 2-day discussions, specialists and journalists noted the necessity of continuation of the works aimed at increase of number of scientific and public articles, connected with this topic, attraction of attention of the leading world countries to the issue.

For detailed and comprehensive lecture, academician Budag Budagov was conferred with the award ‘Kind heart of the Caspian’, Rustam Mammadov with the medal “Tercentenary of Russian Press”.

In the frame of visit, the guests have been in Gusar, Guba and Khachmaz regions of Azerbaijan, interested in the state of Russian schools, held meetings with public representatives.

The workshop dedicated to the Caspian problems, ended in a news conference at the hall of the production enterprise “Caspian fish Co” and conducting g a tele-bridge with Moscow.
