IOM POISE D TO PREVENT MIGRATION IN NAKHCHIVAN
He noticed that the works for the program had been commenced since November 1998 under the sponsorship of UNDP. Major effect of this program, according to him, is to stop the exodus of the population to other provinces and abroad in search for a job through allotment of micro-credits and opening new jobs.
At present, the program is being implemented in 46 villages of Nakhchivan. By November 2002, 1685 villagers had been given credits to the total amount of 623 700 dollars. Repayment percentage is 98%, IOM leader said.
The works within the framework of the project is being implemented in the capital of AR. In particular, 113 townsmen have passed business development courses and having prepared the projects of their own those 102 projects have been awarded credits at the amount of $2 thousand. Altogether, the amount of credits allotted to the townsmen totals $272,5 thousand. In conclusion, J. Van Der Aalst mentioned that 407 residents of Nkhchivan have been provided with jobs, while for 320 of them necessary conditions for finding a job have been created.
