Islamic Development Bank keen on energy projects in Azerbaijan

Azerbaijan’s Minister of Energy Parviz Shahbazov met with the visiting delegation of the Islamic Development Bank group led by its Chairman Muhammad Sulaiman Al-Jasser.
The minister touched upon the effective cooperation between the Islamic Development Bank and Azerbaijan, stressing the Bank’s support of the energy projects.
The meeting focused on the reforms carried out in the energy sector in Azerbaijan, the prospects for the production and export of "green energy", including "green hydrogen", energy efficiency and energy regulation. The minister stated that there are ample opportunities for cooperation with the Bank on mega projects to be implemented in renewable energy production and transmission in Azerbaijan.
The chairman of the Islamic Development Bank provided information about bank’s activities towards infrastructure projects, technical support, financial aid, progress achieved on private sector development. He expressed interest in the energy projects to be implemented in Azerbaijan, especially in the liberated areas, as well as green energy corridor project connecting Azerbaijan, Georgia, Romania and Hungary.
