JUBILEE OF FAMOUS AZERBAIJANI MARKED IN SAMARKAND

The 90th jubilee of professor of Samarkand State University, historian, late compatriot Yusif Alaskarov is being celebrated in Samarkand, Uzbekistan. Samarkand radio and Television is preparing programs on Azerbaijani, and newspapers are publishing materials about him.

The newspaper “Zaravshan” called Yusif Alaskarov “outstanding writer, who wrote the history of Samarkand”. The paper says, “over 10 fundamental researches of the outstanding writer, about 200 articles on the history of Samarkand, his books “Years - equal to centuries”, “Samarkand”, “Ulugbek’s Observatory”. Yusif Alaskarov was bestowed the title of the honored scholar of Uzbekistan”.

In the program, prepared by Samarkand Television reader of the Samarkand State University, chairman of Azerbaijani-Uzbek cultural-economic ties Sehavet Ojiyev, the scholar’s grandson Oleg Alaskarov spoke about Y. Alaskarov, students shared memories on their favorite lecturer.
