Japanese Government backs new project in Azerbaijan`s Zagatala region
Baku, June 22 (AZERTAC). The Japanese Embassy in Azerbaijan has signed a grant contract on the Project for “Improvement of Drinkable Water Supply Facilities in Two Villages in Zagatala Region” to be implemented within the Framework of “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” provided by the Government of Japan.
An event on this occasion has been held in Azerbaijan`s Zagatala region.
The project aims to improve the drinkable water supply facilities in two villages in Zagatala region and number of beneficiaries is 5,685 persons. Total amount of the Japanese Grant Assistance for this project is about USD 123,403. “Grassroots and Human Security Grant Assistance Programme” support projects applied by municipalities, medical institutions, and NGOs, aiming directly at the improvement of living standards of Azerbaijani people. Such projects might be implemented in the field of poverty reduction, social protection, infrastructure, public health and increase of incomes. The total number of projects contracted in Azerbaijan including this time is 150, and the amount is USD 11,390,436.
So far including this project three projects had been contracted in Zagatala region.
The total amount of Japan`s Official Development Assistance provided for the Azerbaijan is over $1 billion, covering a wide range of areas such as improvement of economic infrastructure, agricultural and social sectors and cultural field as well as human capacity development.
