MEETING IN BAKU SLAVONIC UNIVERSITY

Teaching staff and students of the Baku Slavonic University has met here today with Chief of the Department of Eurasia of the French University INALKO, Prof. Michelle Bozdemir.
Rector of BSU, Prof. Kamal Abdullayev has noted that the meeting had been held in the framework of the agreement between BSU and INALKO on developmente of co-operation and students exchange, and informed on the history of founding and structure of one of the oldest French Universities.
Well-known turkologist, Prof. Michelle Bozdemir told about the University activities. He said after collapse of the USSR, the need for and interest in learning of Turkish languages have considerably aroused. The first was Kazakh language; later, since 1998 Azerbaijani language has been teaching optionally, but now the University is prepared to open Department of Azerbaijani language and literature, as several million people speak this language in Asia.
The meeting participants stressed the necessity to expand relations between the Universities by organizing students exchange, probation period and practical work for the students.
In conclusion, the guest responded to plenty of questions from teachers and students.
