MONITORING REVEALS NO BIRD FLU IN AZERBAIJAN REGIONS

Azerbaijan`s State Veterinary Service said there is no bird flu
in the country as laboratory analysis did not confirm the H5N1 virus in poultry.
Monitoring covered Absheron peninsula and Davachi, Salyan, Agjabadi and Lankaran regions, and samples collected from 2,145 birds tested negative for avian influenza.
The next monitoring will start March 25.
Azerbaijan is tightening controls at borders to try to prevent the spread of avian flu through illegal poultry imports.
The country has imposed a temporary ban on import of poultry from affected countries.
