Meeting held with Azerbaijanis living in Calgary and Edmonton cities

As part of the visit to Canada, employees of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora met with the members of the Azerbaijani community living in Calgary and Edmonton cities of Alberta province.
Firstly, the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Canada were played at the event held in Calgary University, then a minute silence was observed to the dear memory of those who sacrificed their lives for the territorial integrity of Azerbaijan.
Sabina Isgandarova, founder of the Alberta Azerbaijan Cultural Society, and Jeyhun Najafov, head of the same Society, gave information about the activity of the organization.
Fuad Muradov, chairman of the State Committee on Work with Diaspora expressed his gratitude to the community members for conducting extensive information campaign and organizing large scale actions in the province of Alberta during the 44-day Patriotic War.
Recalling President Ilham Aliyev’s recommendations sounded at the Fifth Congress of World Azerbaijanis held in Shusha, the chairman of the Committee also informed the participants about the solidarity of the Azerbaijani communities abroad during the post-war period.
The Committee chairman drew attention to the activities of Coordination Councils, Azerbaijani Houses and Azerbaijani weekend schools and newly opened Azerbaijani house in Toronto.
Furthermore, an extensive video report covering the activity of the committee was presented to the event participants and Diaspora Anthem were sounded.
Then, the video demonstration of President Ilham Aliyev’s speech on the occasion of the Victory Day was presented.
The community members described the opening of the Azerbaijani House in Toronto as an important event.
The ideas were exchanged regarding successive works carried out in the direction of organization of Azerbaijanis living abroad, the systematic implementation of diasporic activities based on the Azerbaijani national and moral values, the delivery of the true voice of Azerbaijan to the world community, the difficulties encountered in this field, and the works to be done on the next stage.
The committee chairman listed to the proposals and answered all question by the members of the Azerbaijani community.
The event wrapped up with the concert program presented by “Azeri Calgary Stars”.
