On the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, outstanding political and public figure, AZERTAC highlights the chronology of the thorny and glorious path traveled by the Great Leader of the Azerbaijani people, his unique political and public activities, and his life dedicated to the people.

28 January. First Deputy Chairman of the USSR Council of Ministers Heydar Aliyev met with Deputy Prime Minister of the Yemen Arab Republic Muhammad Said al-Attar in Kremlin.

25 February-6 March. He attended the 27th Congress of the Soviet Communist Party.

7 March. He met with the delegation led by Deputy Secretary General of Arab Resurrection Socialist Party Al Ahmar.

24 April. He received Deputy Chairman of the Council of Ministers of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam Dong Si Nguyen.

31 July. Twice Hero of the Socialist Labor Heydar Aliyev’s bust was unveiled in Nakhchivan.

3 September. He was appointed as the Chairperson of the State Commission launched following the accident on "Admiral Nakhimov" Ship in Novorossiysk.

26 September. He met with the delegation of the Cuban Republic in Kremlin.

16 October. He was appointed as the Chairman of the Social Development Bureau of the USSR Council of Ministers.

11-16 November. He led the delegation of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union who visited Laos.

18 November. He attended the 80th birth anniversary of Samad Vurgun in Moscow.

On 29 September, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev signed an Order to declare 2023 as a “Year of Heydar Aliyev” in the country. 10 May 2023 will mark the 100th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev, the national leader of the Azerbaijani people, the founder of the independent state of Azerbaijan, and an outstanding politician and statesman.
