Mourinho handed one-year prison sentence and two-million-euro fine

Baku, February 6, AZERTAC

Jose Mourinho has been sentenced to one year in prison and been issued with a fine of around 2.2 million euros for evading a payment of 3.3 million, according to Marca.

As is custom in Spain, the Portuguese coach won't serve time in prison because it is a financial crime with a punishment of under two years.

Mourinho acknowledged the facts before the court under Section 30 of the Provincial Court of Madrid in a trial that lasted only a few minutes.

Guilty of two tax crimes, defrauding 3.3 million euros for his image rights during his time as coach of Real Madrid, Mourinho was handed a six-month sentence for each.

The fine is 60 percent of the sum defrauded - 966,922.56 euros in 2011 and 1,015,879.83 in 2012.
