NEW REGION ON ADMINISTRATIVE MAP OF AZERBAIJAN
Milli Majlis Standing Committee on Regional Issues considered the issue of creating new administrative region in the territory of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic March 17. Opening the meeting, the Committee Chairman Zahid Garalov reported that while making partial changes in administrative and territorial division of Babek and Sharur regions of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, a new Kengerli region covering administrative districts of the villages of Beyukduz, Chalkhangla and Hinjib of Babek region, and those of Khok, Garabaglar, Givrag, Shakhtakhti, Yeni Kerki and Yurduchu of Sharur region, is being created.
The necessity of establishment of the new region was grounded on facts by the first Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Majlis of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vahid Aghahasanov, who pointed out strategic importance of this region located on the Azerbaijan –Armenian border.
The sitting participants decided to submit the issue for consideration to the Milli Majlis.
They have also discussed the issue of preparation for coming municipal elections.
