Number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan increases

The number of tourists visiting Azerbaijan is increasing, according to the country`s Ministry of Culture and Tourism. “This tendency started to show itself in the first half of 2016. No doubts that Azerbaijan’s hosting Formula 1 European Grand Prix played its role.”

“With its ancient history, rich culture, mysterious nature and hospitality Azerbaijan has become a famous tourist destination,” the ministry said.

“The number of tourists who visited Azerbaijan this year is 30 times more than in the previous year. 972,000 foreign citizens visited the country in the first 6 months of the year. Russian tourists top the list followed by Iran, Turkey and Arab countries,” the ministry added.
